Put on your leather jacket, grab your guitar and lead your band to success in this management game filled with attitude!

”My mind is not as clear as it used to be, but I believe it was 1965 when we started. Our manager was a pretty peculiar fellow, ’cause we never even saw him (or was it her?) in person. Instead we got our orders through some kind of a mobile device. It felt strange at first, but it worked well.

Our days were filled with typical band activities: we made albums, toured, went to interviews, performed on TV and trained relentlessly. We learned various skills and spent our hard earned cash on items that helped us on our journey. Occasionally we had to prove our worth by facing other bands in a Battle of the Bands contest.

We used to experiment a lot, trying different styles of music. There were plenty of genres to choose from, and each one gave us sort of special powers. We even founded a couple of genres ourselves.

During the first years, we had this underground thing going on. We had a nasty reputation and lots of loyal fans. But as our fame grew, people started accusing us of selling out, and little by little our music became more mainstream. We developed a line of merchandise, and money started pouring in. Eventually we even had our very own record label, and we started producing albums for other bands.

Everything didn’t always go smooth, and we sure had our share of problems. Our bassist was a heavy drinker and spent lot of time in rehab. We also had to kick out our original singer because his attitude towards the rest of us became unbearable, and we grew tired of fighting with him.

All in all, those were pretty fun times, and I would definitely do it all again. If only there was a way to save and load in life!”

Pros and cons of A Story of a Band app for iPhone and iPad

A Story of a Band app good for

Great management game. Really fun and deep. Better than most Kairosoft releases in the past year! Give it a try!
Very cool game! 3rd day in a row I creating bands and and playing with a great pleasure! This idea and type of simulator is so cool! Please update this game and add something new! Or do a new games like this! Thank you!

Some bad moments

Fantastic Kairosoft-esque sim. Anybody who loves Game Dev Story, any of Kairosofts other games, or New Star Soccer must play this game!
Really good concept, but the execution is poor. The graphics and UI design need polish and the gameplay needs tightening up. Very confusing and too much going on at once. The tutorials need to explain the mini games better. The early battles take way too long. The game needs to be streamlined and the player should be eased into the different gameplay aspects. The grammar and sentence structure is also bad. It looks like a lot of work went into this, but I cant really recommend it in its current state.
Gameplay is somewhat fun but theres so much stuff crammed in its hard to know what all there is to do and what you actually need to do. So its very clunky. I love the concept and I do appreciate no IAPs. Hopefully improvements will be made because this has the potential to be really cool. Needs better explanations on how things work instead of just the basics because theres a lot of stuff to sort through. And its not really clear how you raise your fatigue level on tour or what exactly you need to do to avoid falling asleep on stage. Its confusing because I start the tour with full energy. How do you keep track of days? Says you need to rest for so many days before you go back on tour but I have no idea... And why in the heck do you need to purchase saves?!!!!!!!!! The dumbest thing I ever heard of!
This is a great game. It could be a little more deep in some areas but it is a amazing start. I hope they update it frequently
Great band sim and surprisingly deep. Highly recommended for fans of kairosoft.
This game is everything "Band Boss" lacked. The gameplay is extremely fun. The fact you play a role in how good your band writes songs is rewarding. Your band members can die. Its sad when you have to replace someone who became a alcoholic, or you could send them to rehab. If your unhappy with a member you can give them the boot. There are a bunch of genres you can play, you can even make the genre flop or succeed. Theres so many things to do from battle of the bands, touring, to making tour band look like saints or hell spawns. Great game id recommend this hidden gem to anyone!
